Ethernet!

I am already overworked and I’ve only been in college for three days. Actually I’ve only done one homework assignment since I started and that was just some reading of the Bible for Western Lit. I’m starting to like it at UH; I haven’t made any friends, but the professors are involving. And I’m proud of myself– it took me two years of high school to feel somewhat comfortable around my classmates. Already I’ve reached that stage at UH. Back to the overworked bit: the logistics of college life are tiresome. All the classes are well organized, with their own schedules and websites and mailing lists, but when you add them up, the synergistic effect is too much. Right now, I’m trying to figure out exactly what I have to do, for which class, and when.

Another thing, I am now glad that I’m at UH; while academically speaking, it isn’t my school at all, I need to be able to flourish in that social environ before trusting myself to an out of state school where I have no support system (If my family can be considered a support system). I wonder if I’ll ever ‘fit in’ or if I’m fated to eternally be an outsider; mostly, my outsideness is a self-perpetuating self-deception though. And when I see kindred souls, I pity them. Should I pity myself?

Oh, I got a super fast (compared to a modem) ethernet connection in my dorm room. And now I have a roommate (I didn’t have one at first). That’s cool, I’ve always wanted a roommate– someone you have to get to know well. Hopefully, that would engender friendship, or if not, a supportive respect. Pathetic isn’t it; we’ll see.
