Test of MTPerlScript plug-in

If this works, it will display the time, and leave me much stoked.

While I was visiting BradChoate.com to dl his awesome MTPerlScript module, I saw his GeekCode Block which reminds me of two things: (1) I need to post my own. I keep rewriting it and planning to upload it, but I haven’t found a place to put it, and (2) new project idea: a Geek Code Block parser. For those of us who don’t feel like reading the official Geek Code Block specs, or want another toy to play with.

I have to write 3 letters and send them off before the end of the week. 2 to friends away at college, and 1 to a friend in jail. Actually, I don’t know if that last one is really a ‘friend’ per se, seeing as how we travel in different circles (more accurately: he travels in a circle, and I travel as a lone dot :), but we were really close at one point. So my writing skills will get lots of practice.

I just looked at my numerical methods note packet, and I felt a sinking feeling. I love math, but not when the usage of particular algorithms are important. I prefer the discovery and exploration of useful modes of thinking, and the wonder of theorems. But in this class, I have to worry about significant digits, putting bounds on errors, and learning specific algorithms for numeric calculations. Having a strong aversion to even the Simpson’s rule, imagine my horror when I discovered we have to master Romberg integration (don’t even ask). I much prefer my other engineering math class, where we’re learning differential equations and linear algebra. But I guess, both the good and the bad come when you decide to do engineering. At least I’m doing electrical engineering, so I’ll stick pretty close to my math roots. If I was doing chemical engineering (god forbid), I would die. In addition to the math, they have to take advanced chemistry classes. All so they can go work in smelly, dangerous, unrewarding chemical plants; what a career choice.

So, time to stop ranting on that topic. Actually, I’d better be getting to class.
And if anyone knows how to solve equations in the form ae^(-akt)=(a-b)/(a-c) where everything is known except a and k, and you desire an expression for a devoid of k, or vice versa, please let me know. Fat chance of that happening. Oh well.

Hey, I didn’t even mention the brand spanking new, [almost] site-wide design overhaul. Hmmm… probably because it ain’t all that. Yet. I’m still working on it. One day I’ll hit on the right color scheme, and on that day, I shall put down all my web-tools and release HTML-Kit from its thralldom.
