REQ: Development book recommendations

PHP, Java, C, C++, Perl, Python, Scheme, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax, Swing, GTK, MySQL, Ant
All development technologies I’d like to have much more hands-on experience in. Best-of-the-best book recommendations enthusiastically welcomed– and by best-of-the-best, I mean on par with the Perl Book, Programming Python, or Javascript: The Definitive Guide– rather more leading towards huge tomes of specifications than tutorials.
