King Henry III
December 24th, 2007 ~ Posted in: GeneralYou get … uh … something good, if you can identify the book from which I culled these quotes:
Why, I can smile, and murder whiles I smile
And cry ‘Content’ to that which grieves my heart,
And wet my cheeks with artificial tears,
And frame my face to all occasions.
I can add colours to the chameleon,
Change shapes with Proteus for advantages,
And set the murderous Machiavel to school.
Hints: it was published in the last two years, and the first chapter is titled “The boy who stole too much.”

It’s Scott Lynch’s “The Lies of Locke Lamora”. Strong debut.

Good job, mystery man! Have you read the sequel? I’m wondering if it’s as good.

Nope, I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but it’s in my stack. Right now, I’m working on my Pratchett backlog.
