Google said what?
Hold on a sec. Did this actually happen?
Google has publicly stated that they believe their search engine could grow into the first effective artificial intelligence.
I didn’t know Google had it like that (it’s still just a really good search engine to me) and I’m thinking I should have heard of this by now if it’s true. See the original context (an interesting article on the sheer power Amazon has in the publishing industry)

… AI as a catch phrase is tossed around a lot in that article. Not that I know much abou it but I guess the idea that a search engine that could pass some sort of modified (reduced) Turing test where the interaction was limited to search-query and basic questions about ‘facts’ is not so outlandish, but not so amazing either.
… mmm, time to go read about AI concepts.
