Simply annoying

Suppose the chairman of the math department stipulates that every student must enroll in exactly 4 of 7 offered courses. The teachers give the number in their classes as 51, 30, 30, 20, 25, 12, and 18, respectively. What conclusion can be drawn?

Aargh. What an uninteresting question. I started reading A Course in Enumeration last night, and this is the problem after the one I’m working on now. I’m not looking forward to tackling it. I don’t care about those students and their math courses.

While we’re on the topic, last night I lost my wallet. You see, I have a pair of shorts that are extremely comfortable, but have unfortunately loose back pockets. This is the third time I’ve lost my wallet from these pants; the first two times, I lost it in the building where my office is, and good Techers turned it in to departmental secretaries who got in contact with me. Actually, the second time this happened, the turn around time was so quick that I didn’t notice my wallet was missing until the secretary came up to me and told me she had my wallet in her office! But last night, I lost my wallet somewhere between Corner Bakery and Trader Joes’. I was being particularly paranoid, because I knew the deal with those shorts, but I still managed to lose it.

I discovered it was missing when I got into the checkout line, and then I zipped back through TJs searching to see if it had fallen out in any of the places where I had bent to look at items on the shelves. No such luck. I was shopping with my roommate, so I got him to cover the tab, and on the walk home I started agonizing about the fact that I keep everything in my wallet: my cash, my driver’s license, my credit card and debit card, *my social security card*. It’d be truly annoying to have to cancel and replace all those.

Luckily, just as I got home and turned on my computer to cancel my cards, an email notification popped up: “my dad found your wallet. blah, blah, blah, ” so I was able to get it back that night. Hopefully the people who were kind enough to return my wallet were kind enough not to steal my identity.

Those shorts are getting burnt.
